Abstract
1320114 Cyclic particle accelerators CYCLOTRON CORP 14 Feb 1972 [25 Feb 1971] 6795/72 Heading H1D The cyclotron beam extraction arrangement of Specification 1,238,583 is modified by the addition, prior to the electrostatic deflector, of a curved preseptum 51, located in a region free of electrostatic field, for segregating that portion of the orbiting particles which are to be deflected from orbit. The preseptum, held at earth potential, may be of tungsten provided with cooling coils 55, and has its leading edge sloping from one side of the cyclatron median plane to the other, to spread out the area of power dissipation. A water-cooled copper beam dump 61 is also included, to shield the electrostatic deflection system.
