Abstract
1319294 Boots &c J A DALTON 24 July 1970 [24 July 1969] 35898/70 Heading A3B A conductive shoe 3 includes an electrically insulating outer sole 4, e.g. of rubber or p.v.c., an insole 5, e.g. of leather or other fibrous material, the resistance of which is liable to drop substantially upon absorption of moisture from the wearer's foot, a panel 6 of substantially constant resistance arranged between the insole 5 and outer sole 4, and conductive means connecting the panel 6 with the insole 5 and the tread face 7 of the outer sole. The panel 6 may be of graphite rubber and is connected to the insole 5 by graphite glue and to the tread surface 7 by a wire mesh 8. With this arrangement the resistance of the total electrical path between the foot and the ground remains substantially within required limits, i.e. from 2x10<SP>5</SP> ohm to 1.0x10<SP>7</SP> ohm, even if the insole 5 should in use become a perfect conductor.
