Abstract

1318651 Vacuum switches WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 2 Sept 1970 [30 Sept 1969] 41926/70 Heading H1N [Also in Division B3] A vacuum type circuit interrupter comprises ceramic sleeves 19, 20 soldered together (see Division B3) at confronting metallized end faces 19a, 20a, and soldered at their outer ends to metal end plates 25, 31 which may of stainless steel with flanges 43, 44 of nickel-iron alloy or " Kovar " (Registered Trade Mark) or alternatively of " Kovar " or nickel iron alloy throughout. A copper or stainless steel condensing shield 32 is supported by a flange 34 of " Kovar " or nickel-iron alloy the flange being secured in the soldered joint between the ceramic sleeves 19, 20. The device includes fixed and movable contacts 23, 27 the latter being connected to an operating stem 27a and being sealed to the vacuum envelope by a metal bellows 29.
