Abstract
1318637 Cupola furnaces PENZENSKY KOMPRESSORNY ZAVOD 29 June 1970 [28 June 1969 (2)] 31371/70 Heading F4B A cupola furnace of oval or rectangular crosssection has a metal heating hearth 7 below the melting shaft 2, and a downwardly concave baffle 4 at the junction of the two sections. An elongated opening formed by water cooled shoulders 3 separates the two sections, and the baffle has cooling tubes 10 and is elongated, with its major axis coplanar with the major axis of the opening. The furnace is heated by burners 9, and the ratio of major axis of the furnace cross-section to its minor axis varies between 1À2 and 5 from the top to the bottom.
