Abstract

1317881 Sizing and dyeing paper IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 31 March 1970 [2 April 1969] 17315/69 Headings D1B and D2B Paper is sized and dyed by passing it, e.g. at the dry end of the paper machine, through an aqueous medium containing a polyolefine emulsion, a melamine-formaldehyde or ureaformaldehyde precondensate, an inorganic salt capable of catalysing further condensation and a water-soluble or water-dispersible dyestuff. In the example, the polyolefine is polyethylene, the salt is ammonium chloride and the dyestuff is C.I. Direct Yellow 11; the bath may also contain aluminium sulphate.
