[Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Increased hydrophilic and soil release properties, and increased re-soil and crease resistance are imparted to hydrophobic synthetic textiles or mixed spun textiles of hydrophobic synthetic fibres (e.g. polyester) and cellulosic fibres (e.g. cotton) by impregnation with an aqueous solution containing a condensation product of a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol having a molecular weight of 400 to 10,000 and an imidazolidone derivative of the formula: (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> each represent hydrogen or a C 1-4 alkyl group, with the proviso that at least one represents such an alkyl group), together with an acidic catalyst, squeezing to ensure a condensation product retention of 0.5 to 10% by weight of the goods, drying at a temperature of up to 120‹C and curing at a temperature of between 130‹ and 170‹C. Textile assistants may also be incorporated in the treatment solution, those specified being methylolurea, dimethylolethyleneurea, dimethyloluran, dimethylol triazone, dimethylol glyoxal mono-urein, dimethyl propyleneurea and alkylated derivatives thereof. Specified catalysts are zinc nitrate, magnesium chloride, diammonium hydrogen phosphate, ammonium chloride, mineral acid salts of 2-amino-2-methylpropanol and ethanolamine, axolic acid and maleic acid.
