Abstract

1,254,743. Dyeing and printing. TEXTILMASOHINEN ZITTAU VEB. 16 June, 1969, No. 30308/69. Heading D1B. Anionic water soluble dyes and/or soluble or dispersed metal complex dyes are applied to napped or pile textiles containing cellulose fibre materials or nitrogen fibre materials in conjunction with a thickening agent or highly viscous aqueous solution of a copolymer of general formula in which R 1 is hydrogen or a methyl group, R 2 is an ethyl or butyl group, R 3 is ethyl, propyl, butyl, or 2-ethyl-hexyl radical, X<SP>+</SP> is the cation of a basic nitrogen compound and the grouping results in the copolymer having an acid number of 120-550, the acid number being the amount of potassium in milligrams required for the neutralisation of a dispersion containing 1 gm of dry material. The copolymer may be solubilised by neutralisation with a volatile nitrogen base which is subsequently removed by heating, e.g. n-butylamine, diethylamine, ammonia and triethylamine, crosslinking of the carboxyl groups being effected by aminoplast resin precondensates, e.g. methylolated and etherified 2,4,6-triamine-1,3,5-triazine derivatives. In Example polyamide, cellulose, and wool/viscose fibre blends are dyed, known emulsion thickening of the oil-in-water type being used.
