Abstract

1449055 Coated pigments IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 20 May 1974 [24 May 1973] 24827/73 Heading C4A Pigments the particles of which are coated with a water-insoluble basic salt of chromium, zirconium or iron with an organic acid containing a chain of at least 12 carbon atoms excluding the carboxyl group may be prepared by treating a pigment in aqueous suspension with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble basic salt of chromium, zirconium or iron and an aqueous solution of a water-soluble salt of an organic acid containing a chain of at least 12 carbon atoms excluding the carboxyl group, or aqueous emulsion or aqueous solution of such an acid. In the examples pigments are treated with basic chromium sulphate, sodium stearate and ferric ammonium sulphate.
