Abstract
1316710 Lubricating ITT FLUID HANDLING Ltd 16 Dec 1971 58425/71 Heading F2A A compressor has a lubricator which comprises a chamber 1 for lubricant and means for causing lubricant to drip from the chamber, there being a gas passage 21 between the compressor and the chamber and lubricant passages 17, 18 from the chamber to each lubrication point of the compressor whereby in use a gas pressure drop will be established between the ends of each lubricant passage so as to transfer the lubricant drips to the points of lubrication. The lubricant drips from orifices 5, 6 in the base of the lubricant chamber, the orifices being closed by needle valves 2, 3 carried by a diaphragm 4. In use the pressure from the compressor fed to the chamber deflects the diaphragm, lifting the needle valves and opening the orifices. Since the pressure P 1 in the chamber is greater than that at the lubrication points P 2 , P 3 (i.e. the bearing 15, 16 of the shaft 14 of the compressor) a gas flow is established in the lubricant passages 17, 18 in which lubricant drops become entrained thereby being lead to the lubrication points.
