Abstract

758,758. Fluid bearings; lubricating. MASCHINENFABRIK ANDRITZ AKT.-GES. March 19, 1954, No. 8052/54. Classes 12 (1) and 12 (3). In a fluid bearing for a shaft 10 mounted in a bush 9, automatic suction of lubricant from a chamber 12 is effected through a supply channel 14. The channel 14 is located in the running surface of the bearing in a region of negative pressure extending 25 to 180 degrees beyond the generatrix which is located in the direction of the load on the bearing and extends “-length each side of a mid-length plane. A similar channel 14<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 7, may be disposed on the opposite side of the bearing to act as an outflow channel, or, when the shaft 10 rotates in the opposite direction, as a supply channel. For a vertical shaft 16, Figs. 8 and 9, three uniformly distributed channels 14, 141 and 14<SP>11</SP> are employed. Non-return valves may be incorporated in the channels.
