Abstract

1316372 Tripod SARMAC SA 26 July 1971 [6 Aug 1970] 34888/71 Heading F3C A tripod mounting comprises a mast 1, Fig. 3, which is adjustable to a vertical position and is provided with a foot 2, and two members 3 each having an end pivotally connected at 5 to the mast 1 and having a foot 4 at the other end thereof. Each member 3 has a sleeve 8 slidably mounted thereon which is clamped to the member 3 by a device 9. The sleeve 8 has a bracing member 6 pivotally connected thereto, the latter being pivotally connected at 7 to the mast 1 and having a length adjuster 10, Fig. 5, comprising a knurled sleeve 11 having oppositely directed threads, which receive screw-threaded portions of the member 6. The mast 1, Fig. 3, carries a member 12 which is pivotally connected at 14 to a carrier 13. The mast is set vertically by water-level means (not shown) and the elevation aim is adjustable by screw 16 actuably by a member 17, the screw 16 being received in a screw-threaded sleeve 18 and being pivotally attached to the member 12. Directional aiming is controlled by a screw 20 which acts directly on a pivot lever 21, Fig. 17, which is rigid with the carrier 13. The latter is provided with pins 23, Fig. 3, on which firing cases 15 are mounted. A peg 24a is provided which determines the positioning of the firing cases 15 on the carrier and serves, as an electrical contact. The pins 23, Fig. 7, are angularly adjustable for wide-scatter firing by a firing spread control device. In another embodiment the firing cases are fixed on the carrier 13 by members 33, Fig. 13, and lugs 34 on the carrier, the lugs 34 being mounted on arms 35 pivotally connected to the carrier 13. The arms 35 have nuts 36 engaged by a screw 37, Fig. 16, the rotation of which can change the firing scatter. In other embodiments the lower part of the mast 1 is offset, and the foot members 2 and 4 can be provided with holes which receive pegs for example to hold the foot members to the ground.
