Abstract
371,493. Tripod stands. CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST V. BRNE, 7, U Lazaretu, Brunn, Czecho-Slovakia. Feb. 2, 1931, No. 3337. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1930. [Class 52 (v).] A collapsable tripod mounting for machine. guns or other firearms is so arranged that the protecting sleeves 50, 51, for the elevating-arcs 20, 21, which act as struts between the legs when the stand is open, are automatically moved to the operative or inoperative position when the front leg 1 is so moved. The tripod stand shown in Fig. 1 comprises a telescopic front leg 1 supporting the gun cradle 6 on a vertical pivot 53, telescopic rear legs 2, 3, and a strut formed by the sleeves 50, 51 which slidably contain the elevating-arcs 20, 21 connected to a training-arc 55 supporting the rear end of the cradle 6. The gun 7 is detachably connected to the cradle 6 by a strap 10. The elevating pinions 22, 23, are contained within a casing 39 ball-jointed to the rear legs as shown in Fig. 6 and are rotated by a handle 30, locking being effected by a thumb screw 34 which presses the racks against projections 36, 37 on the casing. The front leg carries a locking recess 75 for a rotary bolt 72 on the sleeves which pass on each side of the leg. When the bolt is turned, it can pass out of the recess 75 and, on folding the leg 1, projections 60, 61 and pins 62, 63 on the leg ride on shaped flanges on the sleeves to produce the automatic folding movement thereof. To lock the parts in the folded position, a hook 78 on the casing 39 engages a pin 79 on the leg 1.
