Abstract

318,219. Soc. Anon. des Anciens Etablissements Hotchkiss et Cie. Aug. 31, 1928, [Convention date]. Tripod stands.-The front leg 2 and rear legs 3, 4 of a tripod gun mounting are supported on a common axis pin 9 which also serves to support the tripod head 1. The axis pin is in two parts 14, 15 connected for relative rotary movement by a bolt 16, the centre part of the pin forming a bearing for the tripod head and front leg 2 and the ends of the pin carrying the rear legs on hinges 14b, 15<b> which permit of spreading the legs. A sector plate 10 depending from the head 1 is engaged by a clamp 12 on the leg 2 to lock the head in adjusted position. The head is provided with a training socket 5 and a support 6, Fig 5, for the rear of the gun movable over a training arc 8. The tripod is supported in its extended position against the rear leg stops 14<c>, 15<c> by a detachable stay tube 19 carrying the gunner's seat x. Additional support is provided by stays 14<d>, 15<d> hinged to the leg 2 and engaging by means of loops 17 with pins 18 on the rear legs. To permit of anti-aircraft firing, the gun is supported by a member 23, Fig. 5, attachable to the tripod head.
