Abstract

547,563. Ground anchors. VESELY, J. Jan. 29, 1941, No. 1185. [Class 45] [Also in Groups XXI and XIV] A tripod or pedestal-mounted socket 3 for a trainable gun pivot 2 is anchored to the ground by a helical spring 5 which acts as a resilient screw when the socket is rotated by handles 15. In the form shown applied to a tripod gun mounting, a member 7 fast with the socket 3 engages in the anchored position with surfaces 8, 9 in the tripod head. The handles are provided with a spring- operated catch 18 for holding them in the operative position, the catch being released to permit folding of the handles for transport. A clamp 20 serves to fasten the gun pivot in adjusted position.
