Abstract

1,059,894. Feet for stands. J. R. CLARK. Jan. 5, 1966 [Feb. 2, 1965], No. 509/66. Heading A4H. A foot assembly, for an ironing table leg, which tilts to conform to an uneven floor comprises feet 25, 26 (Fig. 1, not shown) pivoted on a pin 17 extending through a housing 11 secured to the end of the leg so that the free end of each foot pivots upwards on contact with the floor. A clutch plate 21 (Fig. 5, not shown) is centrally apertured to slide on an arcuate rod 10 mounted in the housing by plates 19, and is received in slots 32, 33 in lever plates 28, 29 secured to respective feet. The aperture 22 is slightly greater in diameter than the rod 10 so that the clutch plate can tilt in response to contact with the floor by either foot, a sharp edge on the aperture biting into the rod to lock the feet in surfaceconforming position. Anti-skid pads 27 are provided at the free end of each foot.
