Abstract
1315858 Liquefied gas burners BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [24 March 1970] 14085/70 Heading F4T A burner using pressure liquefied gas comprises a slot 24 connected to a fuel gas inlet 21, Fig. 1, the slot being adapted to direct gaseous fuel from a gas fuel line to flow over a director surface 12, this surface being curved to initiate the flow of fuel and air towards a flame stabilizer 13 positioned so as to reduce the flow rate of at least a portion of the fuel/air flow and thereby stabilize the position of the flame, the burner also comprising a vaporizer 11 positioned outside the combustion zone and heated by radiation, the vaporizer receiving fuel in the liquid phase and supplying it to the inlet 21 in the gaseous phase. The stabilizer 13 may be a ring, Fig. 1, or a disc, (Fig. 2) which produce elongated and short, fat flames respectively. The director surface 12 comprises the outer surface of a director body 10 which contains a chamber forming the fuel gas inlet 21 fed with gas from the vaporizer through ports 28 in a central column 14. The slit is formed between the body 10 and a shoulder 23 on the column 14 and its width may be altered by varying the thickness of a distance piece 25. The air supply may be controlled by moving a disc 20, mounted on the column 14, in a direction towards and away from the director body.
