Abstract

1315610 Automatic circuit-breakers BROWN BOVERI & CIE AG 21 Sept 1971 [26 Sept 1970] 44020/71 Heading H1N An automatic circuit-breaker has a U-shaped easing 1 with a quenching chamber 6 in one limb, a release magnet 9 and latch 13 in the other limb, a tripping bimetal 16 and contact lever 15 in the bridge piece 3 between the limbs, and plug connectors 5a, 5b, in the free space of the recess formed by the limbs and bridge piece 3. The contacts are formed by one end of lever 15 and a fixed contact member 8. A guide member 17 for lever 15 also supports the bimetal 16. A push button 18 sets the breaker whilst a disconnecting push button 19, when operated, displaces the latch 13. Spring 20 acts on the lever 15 to provide contact pressure in the contacts closed position and opening force when the breaker is tripped. The impact of armature 11 is transmitted to lever 15 via a part 21 of latch 13 to break any contact welds. An assembly of breakers 22, Fig. 4 (not shown), is described, with their recesses receiving cables and connectors 25, Fig. 5 (not shown). A flush fitting arrangement is shown, Fig. 6 (not shown), with a cover 32.
