Abstract

1314310 Cyclone separator with rotary drum CENTRALSUG AB 14 April 1970 [18 April 1969] 49183/72 Heading B2P Apparatus for separating household garbage from an entraining air stream comprises a cyclone separator with a tangential inlet 2, axial air outlet 3 and garbage outlet 4, the air being constrained to flow radially inwards through a drum 10 to reach outlet 3, drum 10 rotating at 300 r.p.m. or more and being shielded from inlet 2 by a downwardly flared annular baffle 15. The drum has a peripheral surface formed by solid material-rejecting ribs or blades 11 with apertures therebetween, and the width of the apertures or the internal structure of the drum may vary axially to ensure a uniform flow through the length of the drum. Specification 1313768 describes drum structures designed for this purpose. Outlet 4 has an air-lock (not shown) to discharge garbage without breaking the vacuum in the apparatus.
