Abstract

1312982 Salt-bath carburizing DEUTSCHE GOLD-UND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT 29 April 1970 [29 April 1969] 20531/70 Heading C7U In a salt-bath carburising process using a bath of molten cyanide containing as activator an alkaline earth metal chloride and a third salt which may be a carbonate, the peripheral carbon content of the carburised articles in controlled by replenishing the bath with a fused salt mixture whose activator content is identical with that of the initial bath. The replenishing salt may consist only of cyanide and activator. A fall in level of the bath caused by drag-out is compensated by adding a further quantity of the initial peparation salt.
