An Improved Method of Providing the Surface of Steel with a Corrosion-Resistant Film.

Abstract

1,180,951. Modifying metal surfaces. NIPPON KOKAN K. K. Nov.14, 1967 [Nov. 16, 1966], No. 51815/ 67. Heading C7U. Steel surfaces are protected against corrosion by immersing them in a solution of one or more molybdates. Preferably the molybdate is an alkali metal molybdate such as Na 2 MoO 4 . 2H 2 O or an alkaline earth metal molybdate such as magnesium molybdate or calcium molybdate and has a concentration between 0À01 and 0À1 molar. Paint may be applied to the treated surfaces.
