Abstract

1312061 Rolling mills H A KERKHOFF 23 April 1970 [27 Aug 1969] 19423/70 Heading B3M [Also in Division F2] The articulated spindles 1 which drive the rolls of a rolling mill are each provided in their interior with a lubricant reservoir 10 for the bearing liners 4 of the spindle. The reservoir is connected by bores 7 and 8 to the liners, and is also served by a filling bore 15, a lubricant venting bore 19, and an air venting bore 16. As lubricant is fed into the reservoir, a piston 11 is urged to the right against a spring 12, the spring subsequently exerting a constant pressure on the lubricant. A centrifugally driven pump 20 may be provided for the lubricant. The bearing liners 4 may be formed of a polyamide, such as nylon, and be chromium plated.
