Abstract
1310836 Electro-photography XEROX CORP 28 May 1970 [4 June 1969] 25646/70 Heading G2H In a drum-type xerographic process, electrical charges on residual toner (remaining after transfer of the developed image) are removed by directing on to the drum ionised air from a nozzle to which an electrical potential is applied. The rate of flow of the air may be sufficient to remove the toner from the drum. Alternatively, the toner may be removed by means of vacuum or brushing. The nozzle angle with respect to the drum may be varied. The potential may be applied to the opposite walls of the slit-like nozzle of Fig.2, which walls may have a serrated edge Fig.4 (not shown). Alternatively, the potential may be applied to the plurality of corona discharge wires of Fig.5, each wire being contained in a respective tube.
