Abstract
1336741 Powder cloud developing apparatus XEROX CORP 5 Nov 1970 [7 Nov 1969] 52680/70 Heading G2H A latest electrostatic image on a photo-conductive surface 108 is developed in a chamber 104 by a cloud of toner from a generator 146, 149, the toner cloud being mixed with ions blown from a corona discharge electrode 136, swirling upwards past the sides of an insulating baffle 130 and being directed by an electrically biased grid electrode 124 on to the latest image. Excess toner may be removed by a filter 162 and blower 164 or by a grounded electrode, brush or scraper (all not shown). In operation, a xerographic plate 106 bearing the surface 108 is fed under a backing plate 102, and trips a switch S 1 , which switches off the plate drive and inflates elements 110 to raise chamber 104 and seal it against surface 108. Pins 179 fired to the chamber pass through holes in backing plate 102 to position surface 108 and one of item pins trips a switch S 2 to begin a developing cycle. After development the removal of pins 179 trips a switch S 3 to restart the xerographic plate feed.
