Abstract

1310835 Delignification of cellulosic pulp PULP & PAPER RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF CANADA 5 May 1971 [28 May 1970] 25627/70 Headings D2W and D1P Chemical cellulosic pulp is delignified and bleached by distributing gaseous ammonia in the moisture of the pulp which has been comminuted into fiber and fiber aggregates and pressed to a consistency of 15-40% and then heating the pulp in the presence of oxygen at 85-135‹C and 58-174 psig pressure for 10-360 mins. Air, steam or oxygen may be used as carrier for the ammonia gas.
