Abstract

1310358 Rotary pumps HOBOURN-EATON MFG CO Ltd 15 July 1970 [21 July 1969] 36659/69 Heading F1F In an outwardly sliding vane pump having radial vanes 20 or rollers (not shown) bearing against a ring 22, which is slidable within an outer casing 25, under the action of the pressure generated within the pumping chamber 21 during operation, against a spring 32 biasing the ring 22 towards the maximum output position, the movements of the ring 22 are damped. The ring 22 is located within the casing 25 by a pair of diametral lugs 30 which act as damping throttle valves on liquid supplied from the pump inlet to the upper space between the ring 22 and the casing 25. Further damping is provided by a pair of spring biased blocks 34 recessed on their adjacent faces to form a chamber supplied with liquid from the pump output and contacting a recess 40 on the ring 22. As the pump output pressure increases the ring 22 moves against the action of spring 32 and the two blocks 34 pivot apart on their bottom edges maintaining contact with the recess 40.
