Abstract

130,856. Sheldon, P. Nov. 1, 1918. Junction-pieces and the like; butt joints.-For correcting flange adjustments in faulty steam &c. pipes, the spaces between two flanges which do not meet correctly are filled by means of a filling piece formed of two wedge-shaped members A, B, which can be rotated relatively to one another to cause the member to fit accurately between the faulty flanges. Micrometer scales on the sides or edges of the disks enable the exact position of the two wedges to be reproduced in a workshop if the members A, B are taken there to be connected together and fitted with packing pieces. The members may, however, be connected by bending a flange C on the member A into an undercut groove in the member B. Holes or projections may be formed in the edges to facilitate adjustment, and the two members may be secured together by a short tube which is bent into undercut grooves in both members A, B; or an external ring may be similarly employed. Two wedge-shaped members as A, B may be connected by a solid rivet, and be formed with passages for the flow of fluid.
