Abstract

1307967 Explosive compositions CANADIAN INDUSTRIES Ltd 1 Feb 1972 [15 March 1971] 4703/72 Heading C1D An explosive slurry containing less-than 4% by weight of water comprises an inorganic oxygen-supplying salt suspended in a lower aliphatic glycol thickened with a hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl ether of a polysaccharide. The glycol may be ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, propylene glycol, or dipropylene glycol. Ethers of glucose, mannose or galactose polysaccharides may be used as the thickeners, examples being hydroxyethyl and hydroxypropyl guar, hydroxyethyl and hydroxypropyl cellulose, and hydroxyethyl starch. Inorganic salts referred to are ammonium, sodium and calcium nitrates and perchlorates. Other ingredients are formamide, urea, TNT, smokeless powder, aluminium, methylamine nitrate, alkanolamine nitrates, ammonium lignosulphonate, dodecylamine acetate, sodium dichromate/ferric nitrate cross-linker, and a surfactant.
