Abstract
1329392 Explosive compositions IRECO CHEMICALS 26 Jan 1972 [10 Nov 1971] 3673/72 Heading C1D An explosive composition contains oxidized guar gum as a cross-linkable thickening agent. The oxidized guar gum is of reduced molecular weight and may be prepared by chemical or enzymatic oxidation. When it is used in an aqueous slurry explosive composition, a cross-link is formed superior to that obtained with ordinary guar gum, especially in compositions containing calcium nitrate. Other specified components of slurry compositions are ammonium nitrate, sodium nitrate, water, fuel oil, ethylene glycol, thiourea, sodium thiosulphate, aluminium, tapioca flour, a solution of sodium dichromate as a cross-linking agent, and sodium nitrite as a gassing agent. Other cross-linking agents referred to are borate and ferric ions, and ions containing Al and Ti.
