A slurry explosive contains 40-80% by weight of ammonium nitrateŒan alkali metal nitrateŒan alkaline earth metal nitrate, 5- 25% by weight of water, and 5-20% of aluminium powder consisting of powder '(a) made by ball milling or stamping and powder (b) made by atomizing or graining, the ratio by weight of (a) to (b) being 50-20 50-80. Other ingredients referred to are TNT, smokeless powder, carbon powder, fuel oil, guar gum, carboxymethyl cellulose, borax, antimonyl potassium tartrate, hexamethylene tetramine, and octadecyltrimethyl ammonium chloride
