1,238,818. Explosive compositions. AFRICAN EXPLOSIVES & CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 27 May, 1970 [16 July, 1969], No. 25526/70. Heading C1D. A slurry blasting explosive comprises granular inorganic oxidizing salt partially dissolved and, partially suspended in an aqueous medium, and further includes molasses, a galactomannan gelling agent, and a water-soluble artificial polysaccharide viscosity controlling agent. Particulate aluminium, magnesium, silicon, sugar, or sulphur may also be present as an additional fuel. Guar gum is the preferred gelling agent and carboxymethyl cellulose the prepared viscosity controlling agent. The oxidizing salt may be ammonium, sodium, potassium, barium, or calcium nitrate, or mixtures thereof. Other ingredients specified are zinc chromate and tartaric acid.
