1,199,025. Explosive compositions. ROADSTONE Ltd., and T. F. R. LYONS. 20 Oct., 1967 [21 Oct., 1966], No. 47818/67. Heading C1D. A water-containing explosive composition comprises, by weight of the solid materials, at least 70% ammonium nitrate, 5-25% dinitrotoluene, and 5-25% pentaerythritol tetranitrate. The ammonium nitrate may be in prill form coated with dodecylamine, octadodecylamine, oleylamine, isopropylamine, lauryl sulphate, or hexadecylamine; alternatively a saturated solution of ammonium nitrate may be used. Part of the ammonium nitrate may be replaced by sodium or calcium nitrate. The composition may be in the form of a powder or a soft mud.
