Abstract

1307882 Feeding sheets J E THOMPSON 4 May 1970 21374/70 Heading B8R Apparatus for feeding sheets from a pile to a machine comprises two side lays for the pile, at least one member with an inwardly directed lip overlying the front of the pile, and a feeder head with sucker mechanism mounted above the pile, the sucker mechanism being operated by cams acting on guide blocks one of which carries the suckers so that the sucker is operated to engage the rear end of the uppermost sheet and move it backwardly so as to release its front edge from the lip and then move the sheet forwardly towards the machine. The apparatus is identical with that described in Specification 1,303,981 except that one sucker mechanism only is provided, and also the sucker instead of dropping on to the pile, is arrested a short distance from the top of the pile and the air streams at the rear of the pile lift the sheets so that the uppermost sheet is engaged by the sucker.
