Abstract

1,259,746. Feeding sheets. T. C. THOMPSON & SON Ltd. 3 Aug., 1970 [1 April, 1970], No. 15360/70. Heading B8R. A device for separating sheets from a pile comprises suction cups 8 mounted for movement in a first direction to lift the sheet from the pile and then in a second direction to forward the sheets to take-off rollers 21. The movement is brought about by continuously rotating cam 18 which acts on cam follower 17, causing lever 11 to move as permitted by pin 13 and slot 12. When the rear edge of a sheet has been lifted, a clamping member 23 is arranged to engage the remainder of the pile, Fig. 2A, and direct a jet of air beneath the lifted sheet. The separated sheets are forwarded in overlapping formation on to table 20 where they are engaged by endless tapes.
