Abstract

1307291 Outlets to chimneys; setting in place RICHARD BAXENDALE & SONS Ltd 21 July 1971 [28 April 1970] 20244/70 Heading F4W A flue box for connection between an appliance and a chimney comprises an open fronted box, Fig. 1, with a flue outlet 23 at the top for connection to a flue and a flange 19 at the front opening adjustable with respect to the flue box body so as to accommodate fireplace surrounds of different thicknesses. The flue box may be installed in a fireplace recess, Fig. 2, the flue outlet 23 co-operating with a chimney liner 32, and the front arch-shaped member 18 being adjusted so that the front flange 19 fits against the lintel piece 20 of the surround. The flue gases from a combined space heater 25 and water heater 24 are guided to the chimney by the sloping top 15 of the flue box, and any downdraught causes flue gases to collect in the box without contacting the brickwork or surround. Slots 28, which may have adjustable sealing plates 30, Fig. 1, allow the passage of the water connections to the boiler.
