Abstract
1304601 Insulated conductors GREENGATE CABLES Ltd 26 April 1971 [29 April 1970] 20507/70 Heading H1A A cable Fig. 2 has conductors b in insulated sheaths c embedded in extruded elastomeric or plastics material, the extrusion C having raised ribs a moulded thereon to permit cooling air to circulate the valleys a when the cable is reeled up. The ribs may be at 45 or 90 degrees to the conductors. Those at 45 degrees may be formed on either or both major surfaces of the extrusion and may extend in opposite directions on the two surfaces. The extrusion may be of P.V.C./nitrile rubber or P.V.C. The sheathed conductors having uncured cover applied to them and are laid in a mould. Pressure from a heated ram applied to cause the cover material to flow into ribs and valleys, complementary to those on the ram face. Heat and pressure are maintained for 40 min. to cure or vulcanize the extrusion. The insulated conductors may be replaced by conductive cores.
