Abstract

1304062 Dolls IDEAL TOY CORP 18 May 1970 [16 July 1969] 23905/70 Heading A6S An animated doll is characterised in that the legs are mounted on individual springs and connected to a motor for powered movement in one direction, and returned to their original position by the springs. The means of connection is preferably a pair of harnesses. The preferred embodiment incorporates a motor 40, which drives a crank 50 and associated crank arm 56, which has a pin 58 located in a slot in the motor housing. The pin 58 has attached to it a pair of harnesses 24 which are attached to the lower ends of springs 22 so that as the motor operates pin 28 moves from side to side alternately and causes alternate flexing and unflexing of the springs 22. The upper end of the drive shaft 46 may be bent at an angle and affixed to the doll's head, the flexible material of the doll's upper body allowing for power and movement of the head. The doll may be powered by an electric motor or by clockwork, and a clockwork motor may be wound by means of drawstring 42.
