Abstract

A toy doll comprises a torso to which are attached legs 2, the legs being interconnected by means of rods 8 which are each journalled in elongated slots 16 of the T-shaped rocker 15, such that when a crank inserted in a slot 17 of the stem of the T-piece is turned, the rocker pivots about a fixed stem, causing the legs to execute a "walking" action, the crank being driven by an electric motor and gear train (not shown) which are actuated only when an eccentric portion 26 of the shaft 27 is in such a position as to contact the elements 24. The end of the shaft is attached to an arm of the doll, so that only when the arm is in an upraised position is the motor actuated, so that the doll simulates a child learning to walk. In an alternative embodiment for producing walking motion, the legs 35 are fixed to the lower ends of rods 36, which rods are located in slots 42 for forward and backward motion, the upper ends of the rods being pivotally mounted to opposite cranks 43, and the rods being mounted for pivoting on pins located in slots 44 in the rods, so that the rods may be driven via cranks 43 by motor M'.
