1304946 Dancing dolls MATTEL Inc 14 July 1970 [25 Sept 1969] 34024/70 Heading A6S A doll 10 comprises a head 32 pivotally mounted in opening 26 on a stand 34 having a flat circular base 36 and an upstanding thimble 38. Thimble 38 rotatively receives an annular shelf provided on collar 48 which is provided with a pair of depending tangs 58 and 60 operatively associated with finger 64 on rocker arm 66. Rocker arm 66 is mounted in torso 12 on a pivot pin 68 and includes arms 70, 72, 74 and 76. Arms 70 and 74 receive fingers 82 and 84 carried by arms 86 and 88 such that oscillations of rocker arm 66 about pivot pin 68 will swing arms 100 and 102 up and down. The oscillations of rocker arm 66 being imparted through arm 76 having a crank pin 108 engaged in a slot 110 provided in the upper end 112 of a leg frame assembly 114 mounted in torso 12 on front and rear pivots 116 and 118. Leg frame 114 includes a plastics motor 130 and a gear assembly which drive a crank pin 114 which works in a crank slot 150 formed in front wall 152, formed integrally with the rear torso half, thus causing the torso and leg frame to oscillate with respect to each other. The doll further includes legs 156 and 158 each having a foot 160 including a sole 162, each sole having a ridge 168. Each leg 156, 158 includes an upper end 170 having an annular shoulder 172 extending through its associated leg opening 22, 24 with sufficient clearance to permit oscillation of the torso 12 with respect to legs 156 and 158. Oscillation of the torso 12 causes the weight of the doll to be thrown onto legs 156, while leg 158 is lifted clear of the surface and swings forward under gravity, and then onto leg 158 thus producing a walking motion. Sole 162 is formed from a hard material such that the friction between the sole and the surface preventing movement of the sole is reduced and the sole therefor slips, twists and turns without moving th doll in a forward direction thus providing simulated dancing actions.
