Abstract

130.209. DeppÚ, W. P. Sept. 25, 1918. Spray carburettors; vaporizers, external. - A highly heated homogenous fixed gas or gaseous mixture is supplied by the carburettor and heater shown in Fig. 1, the dimensions being so chosen that the desired temperature is obtained. Highly heated air from inlets 5, 8 passes the fuel nozzles 3, 4 of a carburettor such as is described in Specification 11222/15, having a Venturi tube 6 and a. throttle valve 10, the throttle opening being always central and substantially circular. The resulting mixture may have 15 to 70 parts of air to one of fuel, according to speed, load, and throttle opening. The mixture passes to a heater such as is described in Specification 11943/15, comprising a rotary mixer 12 and an annular conduit 14 heated by means of a bulb 17 and a jacket 15 supplied with exhaust bv pipes 22, 19 from the exhaust pipe 20. The mixture conduit leading from the heater 14 to the cylinders is alternately rounded and flattened in section, the rounded parts 24, 27 being constricted and the flattened parts 25, 28 being enclosed in heating jackets 29, 30 in communication with the exhaust manifold. Ina modification, the mixture is progressively heated, preferably by connecting heating-jackets such as 30, 29, 15 so that the exhaust passes through each in turn.
