Blast furnaces.-In the combined gas an electric furnace described in the parent Specification, the electrodes are arranged in the openings through which the gas is delivered. As shown, the gas tuyeres L are arranged coaxially with and deliver through the hollow electrodes H. Insulating rings of asbestos or porcelain surround the electrodes, and entry of air between the tuyeres and electrodes is prevented by washers of insulating material.
