Furnace details.-A cover for a three-phase arc furnace is provided with a centre brick c of equilateral-triangular contour with concave sides, and brickwork g arranged in circular and semicircular rows concentric with each electrode opening h. Bricks d, constructed similar to the central brick except that one side is plane, are arranged at the meeting place of the semicircular rows as shown. Packed broken bond i is inserted between the outer semi-circular rows and a metal ring k constituting the outer edge of the cover and bricks p of equilateral-triangular contour are arranged in the broken band.
