Abstract

110,409. Stobie, V. Oct. 26, 1916. Furnace details. - An electrode on to which new sections are joined as it is consumed is surrounded by a closed chamber extending from the furnace roof to a point where the electrode is too cool to burn. The chamber may be of brickwork or cast iron, and may be packed at its upper end with asbestos rope or the like as shown; or it may be telescopic, one part being secured around the electrode. Specification 2081/12 is referred to.
