Abstract

130,169. Foster, J. July 31, 1918. Addition to 127,762. Annular wheels.-A modification of the annular wheel described in the parent Specification consists of spring- controlled mechanism by means of which the inner wheel is normally urged forward within the outer wheel. A plate c<2> attached to the outer wheel c carries a bush d eccentrically bored to receive the axle b of the inner wheel a. A crank-arm f<1> is secured to the bush d, and is rotated by a hand-lever, m on the vehicle through a rod i against the action of an adjustable spring k. Owing, , to the eccentric mounting of the axle b in the bush d the inner wheel a is urged forwards in the outer wheel. In two or four wheeled vehicles. one hand-lever m may serve for both sides of the vehicle, but there may be a separate hand-lever for each side of the vehicle. An adjustable nut or nuts may be used instead of the hand-lever for tensioning the spring.
