Abstract
1301102 Bearings J BROOKS 9 April 1970 [18 April 1969] 19979/69 Heading F2A A roller bearing for the rotor of a gyroplane has an inner race 1 with a spherical-shaped portion 2, rollers 4, each of which has a concave periphery in engagement with said portion 2, and an outer race 3, which is located within a member 14 and is secured thereto by means of bolts and nuts 16, 17. A reduced portion 6 of a shaft 7 is mounted, by means of a pair of ball bearings 5 and a spacer 8, within the inner race 1 of the roller bearing. The shaft is also supported by means of a roller bearing 11 which is carried by a casing 10. The latter is attached to the member 14 by means of a rod 22 and a pivot 21. A rotor head 9 is mounted at one end of the shaft and a universal joint (not shown) is mounted at the other. In use the casing 10 is rockable by means of a manual control rod (not shown), the latter being connected to the casing 10 by means of a coupling 13, the sphericalshaped portion 2 of the inner race 1 allowing the shaft to be rocked so as to move the rotor head 9 and control the flight of the gyroplane. A grease nipple 20 is connected by a passage 19 to lubricate the rollers 4.
