Abstract

1300989 Rolling mills MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 21 Dec 1970 [22 Dec 1969] 60694/70 Heading B3M A work supporting assembly, for a cross rolling machine in which an elongated workpiece 3 is rolled between dies 2 and 2<SP>1</SP>, incorporates a chuck which engages one end of the workpiece, and a centre 9 for engaging the opposite end. The chuck and centre are both rotatable about their axes and are movable by hydraulic pistons 11 and 12 to allow axial adjustment of the workpiece. During axial feeding movement of a workpiece towards the dies, by means of the piston 12, guide rollers 8 and rings 10 guide the workpiece. Each roller 8, Fig. 5, is located adjacent a cut-out in an associated ring 10, the roller facilitating axial movement of a workpiece and the ring preventing it from moving laterally. A heater 7 is provided for heating workpieces before rolling.
