Abstract
1300907 Potentiometers PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Oct 1971 [20 Oct 1970] 48110/71 Heading HIS In a potentiometer having a conductive screw spindle 3 within a rectangular trough 1, and a slide 15 accommodating a contact spring 17, the spring consists of two vee-shaped portions, the tip of one portion engaging the screw thread and acting as a nut and contact and the tip of the other portion engaging the resistance track, which may be of carbon. The two portions may be separate or joined for example by spot welding. The wiper portion may be of different material to the nut portion and preferably of less material per unit length, for instance by having a narrower or thinner portion or by dividing into two parts, thus rendering it more flexible. The slide comprising two side portions linked by two bridges sits on ridges 19 and is held thereon by the resilience of the contact spring. Patent Specification 1,035,521 is referred to. The spindle is located in a conical cavity provided with a mounting slot in an L-shaped plate 9.
