Abstract
1,211,069. Potentiometers. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 6 June, 1969 [11 June, 1968], No. 28705/69. Heading H1S. In a potentiometer having a conductive screw spindle 3 within a rectangular trough 1 the contact member comprises a (nylon) carrier 21, which is a sliding fit round the spindle 3 and in the trough 1, and a (phosphor-bronze) U-shaped wire contact spring 15, Fig. 6. The " web " 17 of the contact spring 15 fits into a vertical slot (19, Fig. 4, not shown) in the carrier 21 to act as a nut and contact on the threaded spindle 3. The spring 15 is bent at 23 to press against a carbon resistance track 25 on the base of the trough 1, and its ends 27 fit into longitudinal slots (31, Fig. 5, not shown) in the carrier 21. Electrical connection is established from the track 25 via the spring 17, the spindle 3, a metal bracket 7 and U-shaped contact spring 9, to a contact pin 11.
