Abstract
1300535 PK fertilizer WINTERSHALL AG 5 Jan 1970 494/70 Heading C1B A PK fertilizer wherein the nutrient ratio P 2 O 5 : K 2 O is from 12-18 : 20-24 is obtained by mixing Thomas phosphate with triple super phosphate and potassium salt (e.g. KC2), adjusting the moisture content of the mixture to over 15% with water or salt solution, granulating for at least 3-5 minutes and drying to a final temperature over 90‹ C. to achieve a content of water-soluble P 2 O 5 of below 0À5%. The triple phosphate may be replaced by phosphoric acid and the Thomas phosphate is then reacted and granulated with the phosphoric acid. PK fertilizers of grain size 1 to 4 mm., of compressive strength more than 400 g./granule, and having abrasion resistance of 3 to 15%, may be obtained.
