1299878 Making pipes CIBA-GEIGY AG 3 Nov 1969 33187/72 Divided out of 1299873 Heading F2P [Also in Division B8] In a continuous pipe-making process for fibrereinforced plastics pipe, in which bands of fibres may be wound on to a former, which is being continuously fabricated, as in Specifica. tion 1,299,877, upstream of the fibre winding apparatus, the winding apparatus has a rotatably mounted winding head 386, arranged to carry spools 390<SP>1</SP>, from which fibres extend through guide rings (398, 399 and 404, Fig. 10, not shown) and eyelets (400) and over guido rings (402, 406), to issue through centre hole (403) in plate 408 in frusto-conical formation, as frame 386 is rotated, by belt 422 to lay the fibres on to the former P. Near each of three winding heads, for the bands b 1 , b 2 and b 3 , a coating wheel 352 applies resin, which is preferably an epoxy or polyester type, over the fibres. Fibres from the intervening bands a 1 , a 2 and a 3 pass through the bath 344 supplying the coating wheel 352 on guides (374, 376, 378, Fig. 7, not shown) and 380 before being wound on to the former.
