Abstract
129,976. Doehler Die Casting Co., (Assignees of Kralund, J.). July 17, 1918, [Convention date]. Casting-machines; metal-pouring; moulds.-Apparatus for casting metal under pressure comprises a container 1 for the molten metal and a hollow carrier 3 with a connexion 9 for admission of compressed gas. The carrier 3 is pivoted on arms 10, 8 so that by means of a handle on the shaft 23, and toggle levers 22, 25, the mouth-piece 6, which is preferably movable, may be raised from beneath the metal into firm contact with the gate member 34, which may be also removable and has a lever 46 attached to it by a ring portion 47, so that it may be oscillated to break any metal bond which may start forming between the mouthpiece 6 and the member 34 before the withdrawal of the former for re-immersion in the molten metal. An adjusting screw 28 determines the amount of pressure which the toggle exerts on the mouthpiece 6. To hold the die member tightly against the gate member 34 a system of toggles 42, 42<a>, 42b operated by a rack 41 to move the cam member 43 on the tie-bars 32 may be employed, the mechanism being supported adjustably in position by a frame 29, 30.
